Welcome to Syndicate MMA’s kid’s program! We cater to children as young as five and there is absolutely NO experience necessary. In our program, your child will not only learn real, applicable martial arts techniques but will also develop the self confidence and self discipline that will aid them for the rest of their lives!
Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing):
Muay Thai is a style of kickboxing that allows the use of elbows and knees in addition to punches and kicks. Muay Thai class starts with a recitation of the program’s code of ethics for life. The students are held responsible for remembering a number of rules including “Listening to your parents” and “Stay in school”. Next is a full body warm up which may include shadow boxing, jump rope and other calisthenics. The remaining majority of classes will focus on Muay Thai technique and ONLY for the more advanced students, sparring.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu:
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) does not include the use of strikes (punches and kicks). BJJ primarily takes place on the ground and focuses on controlling an opponent with leverage and technique, as opposed to strength and athletic ability. This is why BJJ is for everyone! Class will start with a warm up including somersaults, cartwheels and fun martial arts-orientated games. Technique will then be taught and at the end of class, the students will roll (spar) where the goal is to dominate position and submit your opponent. The opponent is taught to ‘tap out’ which is BJJ’s safety precaution to prevent the technique from going too far and causing harm.
